About
For as long as I can remember my father, Michael, has loved crafting, building and creating just about anything. From his childhood to adulthood he has experimented with many various mediums, fabric to engineering software to wood, and many others. Those skills that he learnt continue to appear within all of the creations that emerge from the wood.
The shed in our back garden is home to all of the wood, dust and chippings. Eventually they work their way into our home, the homes of friends and family and just about any surface that lies vulnerable while the magic is happening. The shed is what some may call chaos, or a warzone, or maybe just a bit too dirty, but what creative person ever has a tidy or neat workspace? There are probably many, but that’s just not how he works.
Wood has a mind of its own. It has its own agenda, and however much you may want to control it or manipulate it, you just never know how it may respond. The scars all over his hands are there to prove just how unpredictable wood can be. Being deliberate with wood and setting intentions works so long as the wood is willing to listen, sometimes it is and sometimes it isn’t. The beauty of the will of wood is that no matter the outcome something unique is being created. No two pieces of wood are ever the same, and no two creations to leave that shed in the garden will be the same, that’s because of woods will.
